Divorce

Divorce at one price, filing to decree

When you and your spouse mostly agree, an uncontested divorce is one flat fee, start to finish. When you don't, each stage gets its own written quote.

Most people who call are still sorting out what they want. That's fine. At the first meeting we go through the house, the accounts, the debts, the children and the timeline, and I tell you plainly whether your case is uncontested or not, and what that means for the price.

In the flat fee

  • Petition, decree and settlement agreement drafted

  • Parenting plan included if you have children

  • I attend the final hearing with you

Contested cases

When you can't agree, it's priced by stage

A contested divorce can't honestly have one number. Each stage below gets a written quote before it starts, and you decide whether to go on.

  • Temporary orders

Who stays in the house, who pays what, and the children's schedule while the case is open.

  • Gathering the facts

Financial statements, account records and the questions each side must answer in writing.

  • Settlement talks

Mediation or a four-way meeting with both lawyers. Most cases end here.

  • Trial

If nothing settles, preparing witnesses and exhibits and presenting your case to the judge.

Divorce questions

Divorce, asked plainly

Do we both need lawyers?

I can represent only one of you. Your spouse may hire their own lawyer or represent themselves, and I'll deal with either respectfully.

How long does it take?

Many states set a waiting period between filing and the final decree. I'll tell you what applies to you and what we can finish while we wait.

What if we agree on everything but the house?

Then we price the agreed parts as uncontested and quote the house question on its own, often through one mediation session.
